Family health promoting lifestyle can immensely affect children’s habits. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between family health promoting lifestyle and sleeping habits among children (6 to 11 years of age) in Qazvin, Iran 2014. Materials and methods: In this analytical cross-sectional study we included 278 families and their 6-11-year old children (year 1 to 6 in state and private primary schools) who were selected through random cluster sampling. Data was collected using Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile [HPLP II] and the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ). Pearson Correlation Coefficient was applied to analyze the data. Results: The participants had an overall HPLP-II score of 125.48. Significant relationships were found between children wake up time and family’s responsibility (sig = 0.00, r = 0.12), family’s spiritual growth (sig= 0.00, r=0.14) and the total HPLP-II score (sig=0.00, r=0.18). There was also significant associations between children´s sleeping habit and the relationships in the family (sig=0.00, r=0.19). Conclusion: The families were found to have average standards in health promoting lifestyle which led to having children with relatively good sleeping habits. Therefore, improving the health promoting lifestyle in a family can modify children sleeping habits.
