Background and purpose: One of the most common infection from the hospital is urinary tract infections (UTI), which has caused the increase mortality in patients and a high cost of the patient is imposed. The aim of this study was recognize of organisms caused urinary tract infection in Imam Khomeini hospital of Sari city, most effective antibiotics on this infection can be effective treatment designed.
Materials and methods: In this study, urine sample of 2100 patients referring to the Imam Khomeini hospital township Sari with urinary tract infection signs have been cultured, after the positive cases, antibiogram test was done for each cases.
Results: In this study 113 infected persons known UTI and E.coli was the most common bacteria cased UTI. Most of isolated bacteria were resistant to Trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole and lowest resistant to Amikacin.
Conclusion: With regard to the results antibiogram test is suitable for find best antibiotics for each case. In women, urinary tract infections are the most common form of bacterial infection with 10% developing urinary tract infections yearly. Women are more prone to UTIs than men. As a women's estrogen levels decrease with menopause, her risk of urinary tract infections increases due to the loss of protective vaginal.
