Background and purpose: In recent years, along with the development of positive psychology, happiness has been the basic pivot of the studies conducted in this area. Due to the importance of happiness in all dimensions of life, the present study aimed at determining the status of happiness among paramedical students.
Materials and methods: This descriptive study was conducted on 320 paramedical students who were selected through simple random sampling. The data were collected using Oxford Happiness Inventory.
Results: Overall, no significant relationship was found between happiness score and gender (P=0.05). Findings showed that the statements related to self-esteem and satisfaction factors were just significant in relation to the students’ major (P<0.05) and the statements of welfare factor were significant in terms of educational level and major (P<0.05). Other statements of the inventory were found to be significantly different in terms of demographic variables (P>0.05).
Conclusion: Findings of the study showed that happiness of the students depends on their major and level of education, while other variables, namely, age, gender, and marital status had no significant relationship with the happiness.
